This is an exciting opportunity to shape a newly configured 7 bedded low secure unit supporting young people with complex and high risk needs.
You'll join an experienced MDT and lead on expert assessment, formulation and trauma informed care. You'll have scope to deliver high quality, recovery focused interventions while guiding the team in evidence based practice, risk management and collaborative decision making.

As a Consultant in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at Austen House, you will lead clinical care, managing complex cases for adolescents within the secure unit. Key responsibilities include:
Conducting detailed psychiatric assessments, formulating personalised treatment plans, and providing ongoing care for a small caseload.
Acting as the Responsible Clinician, leading clinical decision-making, and managing Mental Health Act responsibilities.
Supervising and supporting a multi-disciplinary team, promoting best practices and evidence-based care.
Engaging in quality improvement initiatives, clinical governance, and CPD to enhance service outcomes.
Contributing to service development, providing input on patient pathways and staff training.
This role is ideal for consultants with strong leadership and communication skills, committed to recovery-focused, holistic mental health care.

Relevant Higher Degree e.g., MD, PhD, MSc or other additional clinical qualifications
Full Registration with the General Medical Council
MRCPsych or recognised equivalent
Eligible for inclusion in the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at time of interview. CCT in general Child and Adolescent psychiatry.
